Ira Harbison’s 1:1 iPod Touch Program is comprised of the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade classes at Ira Harbison Elementary in National City, CA. We believe that digital technology empowers young people to be the drivers of their own learning experiences.  Our focus is how and what they learn through guided self-learning.

In 2011-2012 Ira Harbison piloted three 1:1 iPod Touch classrooms in the third grade.  In 2012-2013 we added three 1:1 iPod Touch classrooms in the fourth grade.  The program’s initial goal was to improve student reading fluency.  It has since expanded immensely, allowing for more hands-on, production-centered, interest-driven, real-world projects in all academic areas. Today you will find students engaged, inspired, and motivated to learn.

Below our students share some of the ways iPod Touches are used in our classrooms.
